Fun Summer Activities

Summer Blog

The first official day of summer is June 21st! Along with typical summer activities like swimming in the pool, summer camp and vacations, Charlotte’s Best Nanny has put together a fun summer activities list that you and your littles can try:

Star gaze in your backyard: Lie on the grass or make your kiddie pool work overtime by filling it with pillows and blankets, and host your family a stargazing night.

Make & fly a kite: When the winds are heavy, take your kids outside and teach them the secret to flying your very own handmade kite!

Play with ‘Squirty Chalk’: Love playing with chalk but hate those messy hands and clothes? Try this super cool experiment with chalk and let your little paint the sidewalk without all that mess.

Make an aquarium: Can’t make it to the beach? Bring the beach to your backyard by making these cute mini-aquariums with blue food coloring, plastic toys, plants, and rocks.

Try painting.. With squirt guns: Get the family outside with this one-of-a-kind craft. If things get messy, don’t worry, just use your garden hose to quickly clean up the supplies and yard afterward! https://www.firefliesandmudpies.com/squirt-gun-painting/

Shop at a farmers market: Take the kids out to a fresh farmers market and show them how to pick out the best fruits and veggies. http://www.charlottemagazine.com/Charlotte-Magazine/April-2017/20-Farmers-Markets-in-Charlotte/

Go to a Knights Baseball game and watch the fireworks: https://www.milb.com/charlotte-knights/news/2018-promotional-calendar-revealed/c-266592512

Create Rainbow Popsicles: This activity offers a double dose of entertainment: kids will have fun making these colorful treats, and hours later they’ll enjoy tasting them even more! http://www.sandytoesandpopsicles.com/eat/rainbow-fun-part-2-rainbow-pudding-pops/

Make a decorative flower pot: This is a super easy art project that you can do outside! All you need is a few terra cotta pots and acrylic paints. Follow this cool tutorial for painting ideas: https://www.kcedventures.com/blog/kids-garden-art-painting-clay-pots

We hope everyone enjoys their summer break! If you try any of these activities, feel free to tag us on Facebook or send us a picture. As always, have fun, be safe and don’t forget the sunscreen!
