The nanny and domestic professionals we recommend are experienced industry professionals, college educated (or have equivalent experience), CPR/First Aid certified, have their own reliable transportation, go through our prescreening interview process, have glowing references, and pass a national background check.

1. Application & Resumé Submission
Every candidate begins by submitting an application and updated resumé.
2. Submit Relevant Documents
Candidates provide all required documentation to move forward in the process.
3. Initial Pre-Screening Call
We conduct a brief phone interview to ensure the candidate meets our agency’s standards and the unique needs of our clients.
4. In-Depth Interview
Qualified candidates are invited to a comprehensive one-on-one interview with a placement specialist. This helps us get to know each candidate’s personality, background, and skill set. (We look for a minimum of 3 years of experience in the industry.)
5. Custom Candidate Profile
We create a personalized profile for each candidate to highlight their qualifications and strengths.
6. Professional Reference Checks
Our in-house team conducts detailed reference checks and prepares a full reference report. Once a family expresses interest in hiring a candidate, they receive this report and are encouraged to connect directly with the candidate’s references.
7. Family Interviews
Candidates participate in virtual and/or in-person interviews with families who are interested in hiring them.
8. Certification Requirements
All candidates must be certified in CPR and First Aid before beginning a position. Many have advanced medical training, such as CNA, RN, EMT, or even retired MD credentials. We provide the candidate’s info on recertification if needed.
9. Transportation & Driving Verification
Reliable, safe transportation is required. We verify each candidate’s driver’s license and driving record during the background check process.
10. Comprehensive Background Check
We run a national background check as close to hiring as possible to ensure the most up-to-date information.
This includes:
- County-by-county criminal checks
- Civil records
- Social Security verification
- National & state driving record checks
- Sex offender registry search
- Security watchlist screening
Optional drug and alcohol screening is available for an additional fee.
Candidates Work Directly for The Family
When a candidate is hired by a family, the family is always the direct employer of the candidate hired. Charlotte’s Best Nanny Agency never employees nannies or domestic candidates at any time, we are solely a placement agency. Nannies and Domestic candidates we place are required to be paid directly by the family legally, by W-2 payment. According to the domestic payment laws in the country, 1099s are illegal. The family is responsible for overseeing day to day employment, paying their employee legally, and paying all applicable taxes.
Continued Support
While we do not employee nannies or domestic candidates at any point, we do offer continued support. We are always available to provide support and guidance, as needed. This continued support is offered to all clients and candidates throughout the placement process and throughout the placement, whether the placement lasts one year, or 12 years.
