What Should You Do This Weekend?

It’s the first day of November. The temperatures are cooling down, its peak leaf season, and you are probably ready for a fun Fall adventure. With some much to choose from, deciding what Fall activity you and the kids should do can be overwhelming. We have put together a list of a few of our favorite activities happening this first weekend in November!

Celebrate Dia de los Muertos at Daniel Stowe Botanical Gardens

November 2nd and 3rd from 11AM-3PM

Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden

6500 S. New Hope Road Belmont, NC

The Garden will host festive altares de muertos, and guests are invited to bring photos to add to the altars to honor their loved ones. There will also be children’s crafts including mask making, face painting, and stilt walkers. There will be horse-drawn carriage rides for $6 per adult and $4 per child (cash only). Live music beginning at 11:30 a.m. and a food truck on sight for snacks, lunch, sweets, and beverages.

Visit the Aw Shucks Corn Maze

Fri., 6-10pm; Sat., 11am-10pm; Sun., 1-6pm until November 10th

Aw Shucks Farms

3718 Plyler Mill Road Monroe, NC

Just because Halloween is over doesn’t mean you can’t still visit a farm, take a hayride, bowl with pumpkins, or get lost in a corn maze! Prices vary from $8-$13 plus additional fees for certain activities. Get out to Aw Shucks Farms before all the Fall fun is over.

Attend the “I Can Be Anything Fair” at Discovery Place Kids in Huntersville

Got a little one who is already thinking about their future and what they want to be when they grow up? If so, you should take them to Discovery place kids to attend the “I Can Be Anything Fair”.Kids can meet police officers, firefighters, teachers and more as they discover opportunities for their future.$11, included in admission, free for children younger than 1.

Animal Meet N’ Greet at Latta Nature Center

It’s almost time for the animals to hibernate for the winter. Drop in to the Latta Nature Center to say hello to animals before they settle down for winter. This is a FREE event and while you are there you can take in some of the beautiful nature scenes! 

Pumpkin Chunkin’ at The Schiele Museum of Natural History

What are you supposed to do with those old pumpkins you ask? Smash them of course! Take a trip to Gasotnia to visit The Schiele Museum of Natural History and choose from a variety of ways to smash your old pumpkins! There will also be pumpkins for sale if you don’t have one or just want to smash a few extra. This event is $2 in addition to museum admission ($6-$7, children 3 and younger free).
