St. Patrick’s Day Parade and Charlotte Goes Green Festival
When: Saturday March 16, Festival 10 AM-6 PM, Parade starts at 11 AM
Where: Uptown Charlotte (Trade and Tryon Street)
It’s the 23rd annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade and Charlotte Goes Green Festival. The parade will start at Tryon and 9th Street at 11 AM and will include floats, pipe and drum bands, Irish dancers, dogs, school and local business, musical groups, and leprechauns! The festival will feature several live music and dancing performances, local venders selling Celtic themed items, arts and crafts, a Celtic kids zone, as well as food and drinks for all! This event is free to attend and most vendors accept both cash and card.
St. Patrick’s Day Run on the Greenway
When: Saturday March 16 10 AM -12 PM
Where: The run starts at the Dunkin Donuts on Kings Drive (701 S. Kings Drive)
Run the greenway for one to three miles to kick off your St. Patty’s day weekend! This would be a great activity to do for families with older kids! After the run Dunkin Donuts will be providing free coffee, for mom and dad!
Latta Celtic Festival
When: Saturday March 16 and Sunday March 17 10 AM-4 PM
Where: Historic Latta Plantation (5225 Sample Road, Hunterville)
Join in the 7th annual Latta Celtic Festival on either Saturday or Sunday. Enjoy traditional Scottish and Irish music and dancing, Celtic warriors, weavers and blacksmiths, food trucks and adult beverages. This event is $10 for adults, $9 for seniors and students, and children 5 and under are free!
Green River Revival at the U.S. National Whitewater Center
When: Saturday March 16, events start at 10AM, the river turns green at 1 PM
Where: U.S. National Whitewater Center (5000 Whitewater Center Parkway)
This will be the 10th year for the Green River Revival! There is a Color Me Green 5K trail run that starts at 10 AM (registration required) But the family fun starts at 1PM when the river turns green! This, accompanied by live music, is sure to be fun for the whole family. All activities will also be open during this event (weather permitting) so why not take a kayak out or do a ropes course?! This event is free to everyone, there is a $6 parking fee.
When: Sunday March 17 2PM – 4PM
Where: Reedy Creek Park and Nature Center (2900 Rocky River Road)
Come catch some Leprechaun’s at the Reedy Creek Park and Nature museum. And explore all the wildlife! This event is for ages 4 and up and is free. Just call 980-314-1119 to register.
An Afternoon of Irish Tunes: Jon Singleton, David Gilliland and Jon Hill
When: Sunday March 17 3PM
Where: Davidson College, Tyler Tallman Hall (323 Concord Road, Davidson)
Charlotte’s own bluegrass and folk music performer, Jon Singleton, will be performing Irish American music along with David Gilliland and Jon Hill. This event is free and open to the public. If you have older kids who love new music this event would be perfect!
