The 27th Annual Matthews Alive Festival

The corner of John and Trade Street in Historic Downtown Matthews (Stumptown Park)
This festival goes on all Labor Day weekend and is dedicated to supporting the local non-profit organizations of Matthews North Carolina. The festival features live entertainment, games, rides, food, art, and a parade, which is held on Saturday August 31st starting at 9:30AM at Matthews-Mint Hill Road and McLeod Street.

U.S. National Whitewater Center’s River Jam
September 1 9AM-10PM
5000 Whitewater Center Parkway
Join the adventure and celebrate Labor Day at the Whitewater Center! The grounds are open as usual with special Labor Day events like a 5K and 15K trail run. River Jam will start at 8PM featuring Durand Jones and The Indications who will be followed by fireworks after sunset. And, as always, this event is free, just pay $6 to park!
Front Porch Sundays

While this isn’t a Labor Day specific event, it is still something that everyone in the family can enjoy! Head on over to SouthEnd and enjoy local venders, food trucks, pet adoptions, live music, and just an overall community feeling.
Charlotte Labor Day Parade

Uptown Hal Marshall Center
Who doesn’t love a good parade? Bring the whole family to the Charlotte Labor Day Parade! The route is Hal Marshall Center, south on Tryon Street through The Square, turning on 3rd Street, and ending on College Street. There will be floats, bands, marchers, political candidates, and so much more!
