Have you ever explored your local library? Here in Charlotte we are blessed with a wonderful library system. I have always enjoyed going to the library and selecting a book to check out. Reading is such an important skill to teach and utilize throughout your life. As the world becomes more technologically advanced, we do not need to forget the importance of reading. Whether you read paper books or electronic books the library is a amazing resource to take advantage of. For children reading is something I feel is very important. I would suggest reading to all children at least once a day. Reading is a great way to teach your children, and help them develop their own imagination. Charlotte is home to an amazing children’s library called: ImaginOn The Joe and Joan Martin Center. This library focuses on children from birth to 18 years old. Downstairs ImaginOn’s Spangler Library has a extensive children’s literature section, as well as places for children to play, and features hands on exhibits throughout the year. ImaginOn also offers weekly Story Times for the younger children. They have a teen loft (for 12-18 years old) upstairs that features the newest teen fiction, Novels, Magazines, and comics. They even have scripts to read as recommended by the Children’s Theater Staff. ImaginOn also offers teens Laptops and Wi-Fi throughout the building. They also always have interactive activities for teens to participate in such as Scavenger Hunts, Studio I, and theater classes. This library is quite an experience, your children will love to explore, and you will have fun watching them learn and explore. ImaginOn is a must see for families in downtown Charlotte. Below I am posting their December events calendar. They post a calendar on their website for each month of the year. This would be a great outing during holiday break. ImaginOn is located at: 300 East Seventh St., Charlotte, NC 28202, Hours are Monday Closed, Tuesday-Thursday 10:00am-7:00pm, Friday and Saturday 10:00am-5:00pm, and Sunday 1:00am-5:00pm. Park below ImaginOn and they will validate your parking for 90 minutes, or better yet take your kids on an adventure and ride the Lynx Light Rail in to town (ImaginOn is the last stop at 7th Street Station).
