Covid-19

COVID-19

We know that you are all aware that a novel Coronavirus, Covid-19 was declared a world wide health pandemic by WHO. Here at Charlotte’s Best Nanny Agency, we want you to know the safety and health of your family and our nanny and domestic candidates are of utmost importance to us. We are keeping daily tabs on this evolving situation and are taking  the following precautions against the spread of the disease.

To limit the spread of Covid-19 we are now doing Virtual interviews with all new candidates to help flatten the curve of infections. If you need a position apply on our Openings page and we can get you considered virtually.

To keep your family and nanny, babysitter, or other domestic employee safe and healthy at home it is best to follow these procedures.

  • Have employee wash hands upon arriving at your home, after using the bathroom, and before preparing food.
  • If your child or someone in your family is sick please discuss this with your employee and make a united decision on how to proceed with having the employee come in or stay home until everyone is feeling better.
  • If your employee is sick encourage them to stay home until they are feeling better and be flexible with compensating your nanny if they are out sick.
  • If anyone in your home is suspected to have symptoms of Covid-19 to report it to your doctor and self quarantine.
  • If a member of your employee’s family has been exposed to Covid-19 (and in return has exposed themselves) to notify the family immediately and self quarantine.
  • Limit trips outside of your home to grocery store runs.
  • Get to go food from local restaurants if needed

We know that these are unprecedented times in the country and we want you to know we are here for you in any way we can be for both families and candidates. We know this is a very anxious time for everyone involved. The best thing to do right now is take one day at a time and have patience with the situation. We know that some may want to panic during this time. Please do not panic during this time we will all get through this together and if there is anything we can do for anyone please let us know.

If your family is having a financial hardship during these times or need specific guidance pertaining to employing your nanny through this difficult time visit https://gtm.com/household/paying-your-nanny-covid19-pandemic/

We encourage everyone to be prepared in a responsible manner. This includes:

  • Having at least a two week supply of basics like food, water, batteries, hygiene products, medications, pet supplies, etc. in case you have to self quarantine.
  • Make a plan for your children daily to educate them and provide an enriching environment.
  • Make your home a fun and exciting environment for your children by providing different toys, games, and crafts. At our house we are working on bringing out some fun Spring items in the yard like a sandbox and water table.
  • Being smart about travel plans. Check for updates, know cancellation/rebooking policies, quarantine guidelines, etc.
  • Getting correct information. Make sure sources are reputable, statistics are backed by data, and news is up to date.

It’s important that we all do our parts to avoid contracting and spreading this virus. The sooner we can as a society get the spread of Covid-19 under control the sooner we can get back to normalcy.

To help limit the spread of Covid-19:

  • Practice social Distancing
  • Wipe everything down with a clorox wipe high traffic counters and items in your home at least once or twice per day
  • Wash hands with soap and hot water for at least 20 seconds

Sing this with your kids twice while washing their hands and you have your 20 seconds of hand washing. “If you’re happy and you know it, wash your hands. If you’re happy and you know it, wash your hands. If you’re happy and you know it and you really want to show it if you’re happy and you know it, wash your hands.”

  • Use alcohol based hand sanitizer if you can’t wash your hands
  • Avoid touching your face

We know this can be a time filled with anxiety for parents and caregivers as well as children. It is important during these times to use knowledge and facts to limit any anxieties that come with trying to limit the spread of this virus.

When talking to your kids about Covid-19 here are some great tips from the CDC:

Remain calm and reassuring.

  • Remember that children will react to both what you say and how you say it. They will pick up cues from the conversations you have with them and with others.

Make yourself available to listen and to talk.

  • Make time to talk. Be sure children know they can come to you when they have questions.

Avoid language that might blame others and lead to stigma.

  • Remember that viruses can make anyone sick, regardless of a person’s race or ethnicity. Avoid making assumptions about who might have COVID-19.

Pay attention to what children see or hear on television, radio, or online.

  • Consider reducing the amount of screen time focused on COVID-19. Too much information on one topic can lead to anxiety.

Provide information that is honest and accurate.

  • Give children information that is truthful and appropriate for the age and developmental level of the child.
  • Talk to children about how some stories on COVID-19 on the Internet and social media may be based on rumors and inaccurate information.

Teach children everyday actions to reduce the spread of germs.

  • Remind children to stay away from people who are coughing or sneezing or sick.
  • Remind them to cough or sneeze into a tissue or their elbow, then throw the tissue into the trash.
  • Discuss any new actions that may be taken at school to help protect children and school staff.
(e.g., increased handwashing, cancellation of events or activities)
  • Get children into a handwashing habit.
    • Teach them to wash their hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after blowing their nose, coughing, or sneezing; going to the bathroom; and before eating or preparing food.
    • If soap and water are not available, teach them to use hand sanitizer. Hand sanitizer should contain at least 60% alcohol. Supervise young children when they use hand sanitizer to prevent swallowing alcohol, especially in schools and childcare facilities.
