Black History Month

February is Black History Month, where we honor the accomplishments and achievements of Black Americans in the role they’ve played in shaping our history. It has been celebrated nationally since 1970. 

Here is an article on things going on in Charlotte to celebrate Black History Month in town. 

Levine Museum of the New South is hosting a virtual experience on Wednesdays and Thursdays at 12pm. The virtual tour is a journey of Carolina Civil Rights. They also have storytimes and lunch/learns.

The Charlotte Mecklenburg Library hosts a virtual Connect with Black Creatives every Tuesday at 6:30 PM during Black History Month. There are several other virtual events as well. 

The Charlotte Mint Museum has resources on influencers and conversations related to race. 

The Charlotte Observer has posted an article on ways to celebrate Black History Month at home. They include information on books to read, movies to watch, and businesses to support.
