2019 Holiday Events

As we make our way into December and this holiday season, there certainly isn’t a shortage of events and activities going on around town. These are a few things that you shouldn’t miss out on this year! 

Ride the Polar Express

N.C. Transportation Museum

Spencer, NC 

December 6-8 and December 12-22nd 

Take a trip to the N.C. Transportation Museum and hop aboard the Polar Express. The ride is set to the music from the movie and the trip will include hot chocolate, cookies, a reading of The Polar Express and a trip to see santa. Holiday Gift Card Making

The Harvey B. Gantt Center for African American Arts and Culture

Saturday December 7th 11AM- 1PM

Children will create stamps of West African Adinkra symbols for their very own holiday cards! They will get to learn about West African traditions, specifically how Adinkra symbols have intricate meanings that date back hundreds of years and create their own unique holiday cards to give out this year! 

Celebrate Kwanzaa with Storytime

Hickory Grove Library

December 16th 11AM-12PM

This preschool story time with feature a celebration of Kwanzaa with a special guest, Mother Minter. 

Build a Menorah

December 8th 2PM-3:30PM

The Home Depot

17111 Statesville Road, Cornelius

Kids will get to build their very own Menorah and also hear a Hanukkah story and enjoy some traditional snacks.

Attend a Menorah Lighting

December 22nd 5PM-8PM

SouthPark Mall

Join Chabad of Charlotte to light a Grand Laffy Taffy Menorah in Circle Court. The celebration will include music. Then, at 6 p.m., head outside, near Dicks Sporting Goods and light a Giant Graffiti Menorah with youth groups.
