International Museum Day
In honor of International Museum Day, we’ve gathered some information about FREE or DISCOUNTED museums around town. These FREE and DISCOUNTED days are usually offered year round!
Mint Museums (2370 Randolph Rd. and 500 South Tryon Street)
Free entry at both locations on Wednesdays from 5-9PM. Also, one Sunday a month one of the locations will host a “Sunday Funday” from 1-4PM. At this event kids are free and adults are $6 and you can expect activities like hands-on art, music, yoga and story time! PRO TIP: Teens 14-18 can go to both Mint Museum locations for free (and bring a friend) if they sign up for the NextGen Mint program (which is FREE) register HERE
Levine Museum of the New South
The Levine Museum of the New South offers several DISCOUNTS for entry including 50% OFF on Sundays and $2 entry for EBT and WIC recipients. PRO TIP: Park in 7th Street Station and get validated for 2 hours on weekdays and all day on the weekend!
Bechtler Museum of Modern Art
The Bechtler Museum of Modern Art offers Family Day on various Saturdays throughout the year (check the WEBSITE for details). Kids under 18 are FREE and adults are $8. The next Family Day is this Saturday May 19th from noon to 4:30PM. This Saturday kids can recreate stained glass-inspired paintings, make paper collages and play Bechtler BINGO! PRO TIP: On Family Day all children’s merchandise in the museum store is discounted 10%
Gaston County Museum (Dallas, NC)
The Gaston County Museum in Dallas is always FREE and offers 2 floors of art and history exhibits. The museum also puts on live concerts which are FREE (check the WEBSITE for details about upcoming events).
Schiele Museum of Natural History (Gastonia, NC)
The Schiele Museum of Natural History in Gastonia offers FREE admission to all on the second Tuesday of the Month from 4-8PM. PRO TIP: Kids under 3 are always FREE
Harvey B. Gantt Center for African-American Arts + Culture
Once a month the Harvey B. Gantt Center puts on Gantt After Dark. This FREE event is from 6-10PM and often offers live music, light appetizers and adult beverages. There is also a Paint and Sip class offered at 7PM for $25. Visit the CALENDAR page for more details.
